Why Maintenance Matters

A website is not finished after launch. It needs ongoing care.

WordPress websites require regular attention to stay secure, fast and functional. Without maintenance, problems compound — and fixing neglected sites is always more expensive than preventing issues.

🔒
Security Risks

Outdated plugins and themes create vulnerabilities that expose your website and customer data.

🔌
Plugin Conflicts

Updates can break functionality unexpectedly and take sections of your website offline.

📄
Broken Forms

Quote forms and contact forms can fail silently, causing missed leads.

🛒
Checkout Issues

Payment failures and broken checkout flows directly impact revenue.

Slow Performance

Poor performance affects SEO, user experience and conversion rates.

📉
Lost Enquiries

Website issues reduce trust and lower conversion opportunities.

Hosting & Infrastructure

Maintenance works best when the hosting is stable.

A well-maintained website on poor hosting will still underperform. RD Digital works with Hostlynx to provide managed infrastructure that supports the maintenance work being done at the application level.

🌐
Managed Hosting

Hosting environments configured for WordPress and WooCommerce performance, not generic shared plans.

📧
Email Hosting

Professional business email hosted separately from your website for reliability and deliverability.

🔒
SSL Management

SSL certificates managed and renewed automatically, keeping your site secure and browser-trusted.

💾
Server-Level Backups

Backups at the infrastructure level, independent of your WordPress install for complete recovery protection.

📈
Server Monitoring

Uptime and performance monitoring at the server level to catch issues before they affect your visitors.

📤
Migration Support

Moving to managed hosting is handled without downtime. We migrate, test and switch over with minimal disruption.

Scope Clarity

What is outside the scope of standard maintenance.

Clear scope boundaries protect both parties. Below is what standard maintenance plans do not cover by default, so expectations are aligned before we begin working together.

We do not guarantee fixes for abandoned or unsupported plugins. Where a plugin has no active development, we will advise on suitable alternatives.
We do not accept responsibility for hacked websites without a prior security assessment. New maintenance clients with existing issues are onboarded through a remediation review first.
Full website redesigns and major feature additions are not included in maintenance plans. These are scoped and quoted as separate development projects.
Unlimited content changes are not part of standard maintenance. Significant content work is handled under a dedicated retainer arrangement.
Common Questions

Answering what you’re probably wondering.

Do I need maintenance if my website is already live?+
Yes — a live website is an active system that needs ongoing care. WordPress core, plugins and themes receive regular security and compatibility updates. Without maintenance, your website gradually becomes more vulnerable and more likely to develop technical issues that affect visitors and search rankings.
Can you maintain a website you did not build?+
Yes. We take on WordPress websites built by other developers. New maintenance clients go through an onboarding review where we assess the current state of the site, identify any outstanding issues and establish a baseline before ongoing maintenance begins.
Do you maintain WooCommerce stores?+
Yes. WooCommerce maintenance is a dedicated plan tier that includes checkout monitoring, payment gateway checks, WooCommerce-specific updates and order flow testing — in addition to the standard WordPress maintenance tasks. Ecommerce websites require additional attention given the direct revenue impact of any technical issues.
Do you include hosting in the maintenance plan?+
Hosting and maintenance are separate services that work well together. Maintenance covers the WordPress application layer — updates, security, backups and support. Managed hosting through Hostlynx covers the infrastructure layer. Both are priced separately so you have full visibility over what you are paying for.
How quickly do you respond to support requests?+
Response times depend on your plan and the nature of the issue. Critical issues affecting site availability or checkout functionality are treated as high priority. Routine requests and content changes are handled within standard business hours. Response times are confirmed during onboarding.
Are content changes included?+
Minor content changes are included in Growth Support and WooCommerce Care plans. This covers text updates, image replacements and small copy edits. Significant restructuring, new pages or design changes are quoted separately or handled under a retainer arrangement.
What happens if my website is hacked?+
If a security incident occurs on a site under active maintenance, we will investigate, assess the scope and advise on remediation steps. For websites joining maintenance after an existing compromise, a security assessment is required first. Prevention through regular monitoring and updates is always more cost-effective than recovery after a breach.
Can I cancel my maintenance plan?+
Maintenance plans run on a monthly basis. You are not locked into a long-term contract — however, we do ask for notice before cancellation so we can close out any open items and hand over documentation properly. Most clients remain on maintenance long-term once they see the consistency it provides.
Long-term care

A maintained website is a safer website.

Ongoing maintenance helps protect your website, reduce downtime and keep your digital presence working properly as your business grows. It is not an overhead — it is business protection.
